Die beste Mining Hardware im Vergleich [CPU, GPU & ASIC]

The next XVG? Microcap 100x potential actually supported by fundamentals!

What’s up team? I have a hot one for you. XVG returned 12 million percent in 2017 and this one reminds me a lot of it. Here’s why:
Mimblewimble is like Blu-Ray compared to CD-ROM in terms of its ability to compress data on a blockchain. The current BTC chain is 277gb and its capacity is limited because every time you spend a coin, each node needs to validate its history back to when it was mined (this is how double spending is prevented). Mimblewimble is different - all transactions in a block are aggregated and netted out in one giant CoinJoin, and only the current spending needs to be verified. This means that dramatically more transactions can fit into a smaller space, increasing throughput and lowering fees while still retaining the full proof of work game theory of Bitcoin. These blockchains are small enough to run a full node on a cheap smartphone, which enhances the decentralization and censorship resistance of the network.
The biggest benefit, though, is that all transactions are private - the blockchain doesn’t reveal amounts or addresses except to the actual wallet owner. Unlike earlier decoy-based approaches that bloat the chain and can still be data mined (XMR), Mimblewimble leaves no trace in the blockchain, instead storing only the present state of coin ownership.
The first two Mimblewimble coins, Grin and Beam, launched to great fanfare in 2019, quickly reaching over $100m in market cap (since settled down to $22m and $26m respectively). They are good projects but grin has infinite supply and huge never-decreasing emission, and Beam is a corporate moneygrab whose founding investors are counting on you buying for their ROI.
ZEC is valued at $568m today, despite the facts that only 1% of transactions are actually shielded, it has a trusted setup, and generating a confidential transaction takes ~60 seconds on a powerful PC. XMR is a great project but it’s valued at $1.2b (so no 100x) and it uses CryptoNote, which is 2014 tech that relies on a decoy-based approach that could be vulnerable to more powerful computers in the future. Mimblewimble is just a better way to approach privacy because there is simply no data recorded in the blockchain for companies to surveil.
Privacy is not just for darknet markets, porn, money launderers and terrorists. In many countries it’s dangerous to be wealthy, and there are all kinds of problems with having your spending data be out there publicly and permanently for all to see. Namely, companies like Amazon are patenting approaches to identify people with their crypto addresses, “for law enforcement” but also so that, just like credit cards, your spending data can be used to target ads. (A) Coinbase is selling user data to the DEA, IRS, FBI, Secret Service, and who knows who else? (B) What about insurance companies raising your premiums or canceling your policy because they see you buying (legal) cannabis? If your business operates using transparent cryptocurrency, competitors can data mine your customer and supply chain data, and employees can see how much everyone else gets paid. I could go on, but the idea of “I have nothing to hide, so what do I care about privacy?” will increasingly ring hollow as people realize that this money printing will have to be paid by massive tax increases AND that those taxes will be directly debited from their “Central Bank Digital Currency” wallets.
100% privacy for all transactions also eliminates one HUGE problem that people aren’t aware of yet, but they will be: fungibility. Fungibility means that each coin is indistinguishable from any other, just like paper cash. Why is this important? Because of the ever-expanding reach of AML/KYC/KYT (Anti-Money Laundering / Know Your Customer / Know Your Transaction) as regulators cramp down on crypto and banks take over, increasingly coins become “tainted” in various ways. For example, if you withdraw coins to a mixing service like Wasabi or Samourai, you may find your account blocked. (C) The next obvious step is that if you receive coins that these chainalysis services don’t like for whatever reason, you will be completely innocent yet forced to prove that you didn’t know that the coins you bought were up to no good in a past life. 3 days ago, $100k of USDC was frozen. (D) Even smaller coins like LTC now have this problem, because “Chinese Drug Kingpins” used them. (E) I believe that censorable money that can be blocked/frozen isn’t really “your money”.
Epic Cash is a 100% volunteer community project (like XVG and XMR) that had a fair launch in September last year with no ICO and no premine. There are very few projects like this, and it’s a key ingredient in Verge’s success (still at $110m market cap today despite being down 97% since the bubble peak) and why it’s still around. It has a small but super passionate community of “Freemen” who are united by a belief in the sound money economics of Bitcoin Standard emission (21m supply limit and ever-decreasing inflation) and the importance of privacy.
I am super bullish on this coin for the following reasons:
Because it doesn’t have a huge marketing budget in a sea of VC-funded shitcoins, it is as-yet undiscovered, which is why it’s so cheap. There are only 4 Mimblewimble-based currencies on the market: MWC at $162m, BEAM at $26m, GRIN at $22m, and EPIC at $0.4m. This is not financial advice and as always, do your own research, but I’ve been buying this gem for months and will continue to.
This one ticks all the boxes for me, the only real problem is that it’s hard to buy much without causing a huge green candle. Alt season is coming, and coins like this are how your neighbor Chad got his Lambo back in 2017. For 2021, McLaren is a better choice and be sure to pay cash so that it doesn’t get repossessed like Chad!

What are the benefits of Crypto Mining?

What are the benefits of Crypto Mining?

https://preview.redd.it/q6xfuxvtmjv41.png?width=875&format=png&auto=webp&s=b092bca718f6cba3ae8c327a54952f4e65c7ed25
If you’ve ever heard the word cryptocurrency, then you’ve probably heard about the mining as well. If you still don’t know what cryptocurrency mining is and about profitable, keep reading!
In order to understand crypto mining, you need to fully understand what a cryptocurrency is first. Unlike traditional currencies (aka fiat currency), a cryptocurrency is a digital asset that works in a decentralized way; it does not require a bank or a third-party to operate. Someone can send someone else a cryptocurrency directly without any third-party involved.
The first ever cryptocurrency created was Bitcoin.
Every single cryptocurrency has a blockchain, which is an immutable digital ledger. A single transaction is recorded on the blockchain permanently, which no one can edit or delete it randomly.
A blockchain works by incentivizing miners to confirm the authenticity of each transaction. A person who confirmed the authenticity of the transaction, get the cryptocurrency as a reward.
Since the cryptocurrencies are based on cryptography, the miners need to solve extremely complicated mathematical problems to verify each transaction. They are incentivized to do it because they are rewarded for it.
Anyone can participate in mining from anywhere in the world as long as they have a computer. When the number of miners increases, it allows cryptocurrencies to be more secure. Even if an attacker would want to attack the blockchain network, somehow, an attacker needs to know 51% or more miners. Since the miners are spread around the world, this task is close to impossible and most likely not economically viable.

Types of Crypto Mining

Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency to introduce the Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus algorithm, where users have to solve complex mathematical problems in order to process transactions and secure the whole network.
Bitcoin was quite easy to mine at first, and you could do it with your CPU, there was no need for special equipment, and the rewards were huge. However, today, Bitcoin’s mining difficulty has increased considerably, and users need specialized and expensive equipment to mine it.
There are four main types of mining when it comes to the PoW algorithm. There is a CPU, GPU, ASIC, and Cloud mining.
The first three are essentially the same, but they use different parts of your computer. There are some cryptocurrencies specifically created to be mined only through CPU and to be ASIC resistant. Other cryptocurrencies can be mined through all three methods.
Cloud mining, on the other hand, is a process where a user basically pays to rent out a mining machine somewhere else. You don’t have to buy the equipment physically but it is wise to carry out due diligence and research into who and what you are paying for.

Proof of Stake ‘Mining’

With the introduction of the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm, cryptocurrency mining changed forever. In this case, users don’t have to solve computationally intensive puzzles. In PoS-based cryptocurrencies, the creator of blocks is chosen via random selection or wealth.
Validators in the PoS consensus have to lock up some of their coins as a ‘stake’ and will get rewarded for it.
There are many benefits over the traditional PoW like lower cost and more energy efficiency. Additionally, because PoS encourages users to hold the coin in the wallet, it stabilizes the price a bit more than conventional cryptocurrencies.
Today, you can find plenty of exchanges that support staking, including the most popular exchange, Binance. The safest option, however, is always going to be staking using your own private wallet.

Proof of Formulation ‘Mining’

FLETA has developed the most innovative and newest consensus algorithms known as Proof-of-Formulation (PoF).
This PoF consensus algorithm uses something called the ‘Synchronization Group’, which allows all of the miners to mine in an orderly manner. The generating block time only takes 0.5 seconds, and the observer node checks the irregular blocks in real-time, which prevents the fork and double-spending. Furthermore, FLETA’s PoF algorithm is currently undergoing the patent process through the United States Patent Office (Application Number: 62717695).
The users can easily create a FLETA formulator through the official FLETA wallet. The minimum amount to create a single Formulator is 200,000 FLETA. The blockchain network is operated by FLETA and requires a 6-core CPU or higher.
As you created at least four Formulators, you will be able to upgrade it, which allows you to get 1.3 times more rewards.
Besides creating a Formulator, users can contribute to mining with a minimum amount of 100 FLETA.

Conclusion

Today, various mining methods exist, each with their pros and cons. However, cryptocurrency miners are still craving more convenient (and less costly) ways to earn rewards.
FLETA’s Proof-of-Formulation consensus is not only fast, but it is also highly secure the added layer of protection between observer nodes, formulator, and the synchronization group.
With plenty more to come, in terms of DApp development, games and partnerships, FLETA’s PoF is increasingly becoming the preferred consensus of many developers due to the speed, security and convenience of the platform.

Bitcoin Gold a Shitcoin Vulnerable to Attack Despite $200 Million Market Cap

Bitcoin Gold a Shitcoin Vulnerable to Attack Despite $200 Million Market Cap

https://preview.redd.it/vddehe8qfo321.png?width=690&format=png&auto=webp&s=44a4111dddd126729769612bd27e1ebc30753e14
https://cryptoiq.co/bitcoin-gold-a-shitcoin-vulnerable-to-attack-despite-200-million-market-cap/
The War On Shitcoins Episode 1: Bitcoin Gold (BTG). The war on shitcoins is a Crypto.IQ series that targets and shoots down cryptocurrencies that are not worth investing in either due to their being scams, having serious design flaws, being centralized, or in general just being worthless copies of other cryptocurrencies. There are thousands of shitcoins that are ruining the markets, and Crypto.IQ intends to expose all of them. The crypto space needs an exorcism, and we are happy to provide it.
There are more than 2,000 cryptocurrencies listed on CoinMarketCap, and Bitcoin Gold (BTG) is near the top at number 25 with a market cap of $207 million. This would seem to indicate that Bitcoin Gold is a major cryptocurrency, but it is simply a copycat of Bitcoin with one key and debilitating difference that makes it worse than Bitcoin. Bitcoin Gold is designed to block ASIC miners, leaving only GPU miners.
The idea was that GPU miners would rally around Bitcoin Gold since GPU Bitcoin miners were disenfranchised by ASIC miners years ago. Ultimately, this decision to only allow GPUs resulted in such a low mining hash rate that Bitcoin Gold is vulnerable to 51 percent attacks, and a serious 51 percent attack has already happened once. Further, Bitcoin Gold has had centralization problems from the very beginning.
When Bitcoin Gold launched in November 2017 the developers did a massive premine of 8,000 blocks, which yielded them about 100,000 BTG. At today’s price $12 this is $1.2 million, and when BTG’s price peaked near $500, this was $50 million. This premine is unfair to other BTG miners, traders, and investors. Supposedly, the premined BTG were placed in an “endowment,” which means the developers will receive all of that money eventually, just not all at once. There is no way to verify if this is even true, however, and the excessive 97 percent BTG price crash since January 2018 might be partially due to developers dumping their coins.
A far more serious issue than the premine is BTG’s lack of network security. BTG made mining ASIC resistant by using the Equishash Proof of Work (PoW) algorithm. However, ASICs were eventually developed for Equihash since ASICs can be developed for any PoW algorithm. In May 2018 a 51 percent double spend attack occurred on the Bitcoin Gold network, and a hacker stole $18.6 million from cryptocurrency exchanges that listed BTG. This caused the developers to hard fork in order to implement a newer version of Equihash that is supposedly more ASIC resistant. Clearly, the developers did not learn their lesson that there is no ASIC-resistant PoW algorithm. If Bitcoin Gold became valuable enough, someone would produce an ASIC for it.
It is unclear if Equihash ASICs were the reason for the 51 percent attack, since an attacker could literally just rent some hash rate on a cloud mining site and successfully 51 percent attack Bitcoin Gold. Currently it only takes 1.6 MH/s of rented mining power to successfully perform a double spend attack on the Bitcoin Gold network, and this costs about $1,000 per hour if the hash rate is rented from NiceHash.
Effectively, Bitcoin Gold is not cryptographically secure. The original purpose of banning ASIC miners so that GPU miners could thrive ended up being a fatal flaw for Bitcoin Gold. It is ridiculous that major exchanges like Binance and Bitfinex still offer BTG trading. This is a true disservice to the users of these exchanges and is a risk for the exchanges themselves.
Crypto users need to educate themselves thoroughly before buying any cryptocurrency, or they could end up buying a shitcoin like Bitcoin Gold just because it has a high ranking on CoinMarketCap. BTG has already lost 97 percent of its value since January 2018, and there is strong potential for it to become completely worthless once someone decides to rent some hash power and perform a vicious 51 percent attack.

How and why on earth did cryptocurrency become what is is today and should we seriously do something aboout it?

My first thought is - rather fittingly - the genesis block of BTC. Specifically the message:
The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks

Today, over 10 years later, this kind of message might as well read:
Coindesk(dot)com xx/xx/2019 Crypto whales and miners on the brink of a second bailout for cryptocurrency exchanges

Bitfinex being perhaps the most iconic example. Losing 850 million USD just like that thanks to transnational government agencies, they faced a similar fate as banks in the housing crisis. Total wipe-out. Just like banks, these monolithic exchanges are too big to fail. Failure would mean a global financial crisis in crypto, much like mt.gox. Not that different from the banks that got bailed out by institutions, Bitfinex received the same treatment, except from whales, investment funds, rich corporate entities and such. They covered for the whole loss basically, allowing things to keep operational at least. There wasn't really any demand for another tether, so without it, it could have been an economic meltdown in crypto. Hearing about similar offers made by other rich entities operating in the crypto scene to Binance after their hack, I'm starting to think this has become an even bigger, more common thing with crypto exchanges than it has been with banks.
It's rich people in positions of power protecting their own interests, except that in the proper spirit of crypto, it's quite secretive, likely (pseudo)anonymous and way less transparent than what the central banks did. Due to the nature of this technology, it can be hard to grasp what the actions taken by Bitfinex mean. To my understanding, they minted a new coin, LEO (witty name for a token under these circumstances..) and basically just decided it's market cap is 1 billion, then in a private sale, managed to somehow pull off the biggest ever ICO in the history of crypto, 1 billion of funding in just 10 days for what appears to me as basically printing money in order to cover for accounting, as this exclusive club taking part in the sale of LEO committed into buying said tokens using the money Bitfinex previously printed in order to manipulate the markets and profit, USDT that is. Can't remember any ICO in the past where the minimum barrier for an individual to participate was 1 million dollars and for companies, groups, or funds 100+ million.

We traded the tyranny of the banking system for a system that eventually reached centralization of power to a much greater degree, accompanied with lack of regulation and oversight which we all welcomed. I have observed and participated in the scene for at least 9 years, so almost from the very beginning, seeing the rise of first altcoins for example and all the crazy phenomena which emerged and how the community dealt with them, evolving in the process. There has been a distinct pattern that can be traced back to these early days, where some group of people would figure out how to use this new technology in all kinds of creative ways which under normal circumstances would have been considered fraud, collusion... all kind of things we did NOT want. So when the majority aka victims became aware, we always protested accordingly. Pre-mined cloned coins that were hyped over social media only so the creators would profit? We decided they were worthless.
So these people, having a very lucrative way of essentially scamming people dreaming of moons came up with a solution: there will be no pre-mine, but coins were launched under the radar and only people with power (many BTC) were informed. In case you aren't familiar, when a new minable coin is released and there's only a handful of miners, a significant portion of the tokens in circulation are mined in an insanely fast manner, first 10% of total supply generated in a matter of hours perhaps, giving everyone who managed to mine on the day of launch a major advantage. We decided the secrecy was equally bad and they openly announced these coins, directing masses to use mining pools, only for them to be be under DDOS during the launch.

That pattern eventually evolved to ICO's and everything else we see today. Ripping people off in sophisticated enough ways that we put up with it. After all, we could always get lucky from the 'generous' pump & dump groups they were organizing and offering to us. The system may have changed, but the philosophy is the same: people with the most money either as individuals or a group exploiting 'lesser' people and groups, concentrating power (BTC) in the process much akin to 'rich get richer while poor get poorer'. 10 years onwards, thanks to the financial side (trading), the whole crypto economy is still not only using but dependent on market manipulation and all kinds of deceiving schemes.

This has been a major obstacle to wide-scale adoption, despite powerful people trying to convince us that manipulating prices to the level of a bubble will lead to people thinking this technology is great and start using it. In reality, many among the general population either had or started having doubts about these bitcoins. Imagine if they tried to sell internet and all of it's possibilities solely through nigerian prince scam spam.

Then there's the miners, one of if not the most powerful entity in cryptoscene as a whole. Naturally their power and influence only grew, significant investments were made. I remember conversations with some chinese guy mining LTC back in 2014, he was always like "Yay, the newest shipment of 300 AMD GPU's came straight out the factory". Must have had thousands. Asics had begun dominating BTC mining and they weren't cheap either. Not to mention all that electricity too. Where I'm leading you with this, is the current situation where we have established mining companies with ASICs dedicated solely to BTC mining for efficiency, probably pretty much useless for anything else. Valuations of 100's of millions if not billions at their peak. Then we realized how stupid it is to waste electricity like that when we could do it in a better way, Proof-of-Stake. Instant conflict of interest hindering further innovation due to competition instead of the opposite. The mining giants refuse to go out quietly and many have been mining BTC at a loss (electricity) for a long time now, effectively needing a pump to dump those mined BTC just to cover their operating costs in the past as they naturally didn't want to sell them at a loss.
Side-note: I think the current pump is due to a lot of BTC miners quitting and cashing out of BTC in a way that doesn't bankrupt them. To make matters force, they can effectively coerce both whales and crypto exchanges to co-operate in order to pump the prices because if the miners go out of business, everyone utilizing BTC for profit is in big trouble. So if they say they need a pump to dump, they get one. Bail-outs for miners too for christ sake.

Luckily, we have alternatives being heavily developed, but I fear for a financial meltdown for crypto before they reach a mature stage. Not a very popular subject to my knowledge, because in the near future, somebody has to pay the bill and this time it ain't covered by taxes collected. This awesome technology has been primarily abused and exploited, with people innovating in the are of 'get-rich-quick' schemes more than the technology itself. Ethereum was supposed to be a paradigm shift, but it became another instrument of the same scheme, even though it helped push tech forward some.

Remember that this is a time of decentralization. It's up to us, the collective, to do something about this if we want (or even can for that matter). Ironically, we stuck with the old mindset of 'just wait it out and The Man will fix it for us eventually' which was supposedly a thing of the past.

So I ask you: What are your opinions about the current state of affairs in crypto, especially the financial side? Do you feel it's all good and if so, why? Any and all input is welcome. Let's make the scene a better place and show good example to the pagans who doubt us due to our dubious practices in the past and even today, furthering acceptance and adoption instead of laser-point focus on profit to the point the system collapses.

December 25th CHRISTMAS (Presents from the King)! News on Christmas: MCO, PAY, WAVES, BAY…Tech This Week: BURST, ICX, XVG, STRAT, XEM, ARDR

December 25th CHRISTMAS (Presents from the King)! News on Christmas: MCO, PAY, WAVES, BAY…Tech This Week: BURST, ICX, XVG, STRAT, XEM, ARDR
Ok yesterday with a market that basically tanked I managed to pick 5 of the only green coins out of literally 1200. MCO, PAY, BURST, ICX, and STRAT were all in the green. Picking winners when everything is green is one thing, but when the market is swimming in red and you have the 4 green, it’s a good day.
I appreciate all my loyal followers! For tips and strategy hours before being posted to the message boards follow on Reddit, Instagram: JaketheCryptoKing and Twitter: JbtheCryptoKing. And now on Discord: https://discord.gg/MWBTWFV (join group to reach me directly and see posts early!) Remember in trading minutes matter, hours are eternities.
Let's get to it, Merry Christmas All! News For Christmas: MCO has promised a Christmas bonus. Their twitter is swimming with hints about a KRISTMAS (spelled incorrectly? Bonus!). According to MCO, "We have something special planned for all of you for December 25th and we think you will love it." Their new cards are supposed to be released by January 1, maybe their debit cards (allowing you to exchange crypto for FIAT instantly) are ready?! Check them out online they look GORGEOUS. I have already placed orders for 3/5 of the available ones and I’m #40,000+ I expect MCO to start rolling these cards out, there is absurd demand for them. With surprise Christmas news tomorrow and a working product this month this coin should skyrocket. If you are interested in getting a card rf downloading the ap they are gorgeous: https://get.mona.co/ivwt/tc7kbhig6I
PAY tweeted earlier today about shutting down their system for a short period while they prepared for the Christmas surprise. This confirms we will have Christmas news and from the tone of the tweet, positive news! What could it be?! With many projects and partnerships on the horizon I highly doubt they would release negative news on Christmas this is a must own for tomorrow to find out what news is released!
WAVES’s founder has a livestream occurring on Christmas (not sure how he picked the day) at least everyone will be home to watch it? Either way their NG activation was successful, they have a live stream with the coin founder tomorrow, and a presentation at an enormous Miami Blockchain Convention in January. This is a buy and hold. Not to mention the Binance promotion which in essence is buy and hold WAVES (you lose points if you sell) is in effect for another 3 days and they are having an airdrop and the end of the month. Nothing but positive information here. If you need a Binance account to trade WAVES please use my referral link: https://www.binance.com/?ref=15316928
BAY has hinted at a Christmas surprise for some time now. The crypto coin market is gambling mixed with stock trading. My money is on BAY not disappointing and releasing news worthy of placing it in the 20%+ range with heavy volume.
Now that the “NEWS” section is complete, which is all positive news for today! Let’s begin to discussion on technology. Nothing really creates 100% gains (or more) in the Crypto Markets like technological block chain advances. This is the week’s leaders for this category…
BURST is one of the most unique altcoins on the scene. I wrote about them yesterday and they are here today because on the 27th we get Dymaxion. Do you investors/followers/crytophenes know what one of the biggest problem with mining is? Electricity consumption! BURST changes that by using 400x less electricity then BTC miners. They have their Dymaxion launch this week and their mining platform should revolutionize blockchain tech. BURST uses free memory space instead of CPU, GPU, and ASIC miners using literally less than 0.025% of the electricity when compared to BTC’s mining algorithm. BTC mining uses more electricity than many small nations and BURST will provide an ability to mine at a very low cost while still having a tradable coin on exchanges. Imagine being able to use the free memory on your computer, while you sleep to earn an income, the technology is crazy. I expect this week (their release is the 27th), particularly the next 72 hours to see the biggest BURST gains to date, while leading volume on Bittrex.
NXT (will be in each post until the airdrop, and it went from $.7 when originally recommended to $1.80ish), with the future value of airdrop priced this should trend toward $2.00 or $2.50. As I’m writing this I see it’s spiked over $1.60. That is more then 100% gains in 72 hours, I’ve been screaming to buy NXT in all of my prior posts. Two days ago it popped. The whole market trended downward yesterday. However, NXT should continue to trend toward $2.00+. I just did the math on the IGNIS airdrop, the IGNIS has increased to $4.02 in value, meaning NXT should be worth a minimum of $2.00, a penny more for every penny NXT is worth following the airdrop, price point $2.00-$3.00 depending on if IGNIS continues to appreciate. More people will become interested in “free IGNIS” tokens in the coming days. NXT and the future value of IGNIS should continue to appreciate following Christmas leading up to the airdrop.
ICX was one of the few winners yesterday! Their Mainnet goes live by the end of December which means any day now there will be that 100% pop everyone dreams of. Leading up to that we should receive the hype and anticipation boost on a daily basis. I expect ICX to rally 10% daily until the Mainnet announcement is made with a 100% gain the day of going live! Having a live Mainnet is essential for a viable crypto currency. Welcome to the big leagues ICX.
XVG, VERGE WRAITH PROTCOL (XVG promises this to come out by end of year, plus a very impressive ad came out 4 days ago so I doubt they miss their deadline) anonymity with the flick of a button (public and private ledges in one block chain). By the time you are reading this post it may unfortunately be too late . There is speculation Wraith may be released in the morning. XVG has promised WRAITH will be released by the end of this year, it should hit $.50-$1 range when it does, McAfee although I don’t agree w/him on much he says, states a $15 price target within 6 months of Wraith Protocol being released. I’m saying $1.00 it’s currently $.25 that’s a 400% upswing if I’m right, 4000% if McAfee is. Does it matter really who is correct at that point?
Wraith allows the individual user to determine if they want their balance visible on the block chain or not. Right now we have coins like Monero which are completely anonymous hence their use on the dark web, or ones that are completely public where anyone who knows your wallet address can check your balance. Verge lets each user determine whether to be, public or private, this will revolutionize blockchian and altcoins. If you want to see the impressive link for the Wraith ad here it is: https://youtu.be/dMrk6rozbJg
An article was written today by Bitcoinist highly favorable of Verge, Wraith will make the coin value explode: http://bitcoinist.com/verge-next-bitcoin/.
XEM has been quiet but should NOT go unnoticed. Have you seen yesterday's chart? I suggest you glance at it. Literally no dips, 45degree angle upward. Leading to what.... Catapult, which is version 2.0 of NEM (is to be released by the end of the year). Plus a 4 week hackathon beginning in January. There is nothing better to build awareness and test out their new Catapult network they’ll be releasing this week, then a worldwide hackathon and a new update to their NEM network. XEM will have a pop this week when Catapult goes live, followed by a 4 week awareness rally driven by a worldwide hackathon.
STRAT, is going to have an amazing week. It was one of the only positive performers on a day the market looked like the movie Jaws. They promised that by January, "I can confirm they will be able to host ICO's on our blockchain agnostic platform this year." STRAT is on the cusp of being able to host ICO’s for other companies. This is extremely valuable technology and they’ve announced it will be ready to go this week. Would anyone like to know the going rate of an ICO? 20-40BTC. Per ICO these small companies and their coin holders are making $250k-$600k at the depressed BTC prices. This is a very big business. They’ve also announced 2 Flagship ICOs that will be available on their STRATIS network in January. The platform to host ICOs goes live this week, and within 2 weeks we find out which ICOs STRAT is hosting. This should be a very positive 2 weeks for STRAT.
ARDR’s platform launches Jan 1st. Ardor’s blockchain becomes fully operational Jan 1st., and the Genesis snapshot is announced 1 week in advance. Not to mention all those NXT you’ve been holding for the free IGNIS are used specifically on the ARDR block chain. ARDR should continue to trend upward with NXT and IGNIS leading up to the airdrop. With a new platform and coins to be used on it this will be a positive week for ARDR with exceptionally high returns correlated with the new platform and IGNIS.
I am including some CB predictions as they are a favorite DM topic I’ve received of late. CB Future Picks the same screenshot that showed BCC showed XRP and Monero. CB admits new coins will be added in the next few months. It was speculated in the online community that because CB released wallets for BCC, XRP, and Monero that those would be added next. CB adamantly denies that they planned to add BCC, XRP, and Monero. And then CB added BCC. I fully expect XRP and Monero to be added within 2 months, and that the original rumor they denied had some truth to it. XRP and Monero are buy and holds. Another favorite question is ICOs. ICOs are very difficult because 99% of them are garbage which is why I've only recommended 2, one of which just met it's hard cap for fund :/. The only one left I like is.. Crypterium- The team is unreal and they are presenting at the Dubai Blockchain Intl’ in January. The ICO is also ending very soon! The bonus period ends in 2 days so I highly recommend getting an ether or 2 involved in this. The Dubai Blockchain Intl’ will greatly increase the number of individuals interested in holding Crypterium, (I make $0 off my posts and extensive research if you do purchase the ICOs please use my referral link): https://tokensale.crypterium.io/?ref=4a5381543424516aa2b4e3a6

The BCN pump and ZEC

A couple weeks back I decided to look into investment opportunities on coins still using the original cryptonight algo. The thought being, all those X3s are mining something other than monero - so what?
My criteria were, cryptonight algo and traded on polo. The list was short, exactly one coin - Bytecoin. The diff had risen 8x over the past month and the price had not risen proportionally, this made the decision easy. Bought a not- insignificant quantity of them around 60 sats and expected to hold for a while until the expected price increase to move more inline with the diff.
Today, you probably heard what happened on binance with a 32x rise in price. This was "made possible" by no blocks being mined for at least two hours. This jogged my memory on something that happened a couple years back that I'd forgotten all about. This also caused me to reasses my stance on the Z3 and whether it is good or bad for ZCash.
Leading up to the latest bitcoin halving , I was researching SHA256 coins to speculate on. At the time, I figured a lot of the SHA ASICs would move off of bitcoin and into alts after the halving took place. At the time I was trading on both polo and trex, so I wanted coins on both platforms. There were about three coins I settled on as I remember - DGB, Myriad, and CURE. Bought some of each on both exchanges.
A similar scenario unfolded with CURE as happened with BCN today There was a massive, MASSIVE, pump of CURE on Polo but price was mostly unchanged on trex. Sold my CURE on polo and initiated a transfer from trex to polo to sell the remainder. After some time, there were zero confirmations showing on trex. WTF? Searched out a block explorer for CURE and low and behold the chain was not moving. After some time, the pump was over and the chain began moving again.
There was certainly a nefarious actor on the mining side that had stalled the chain. I'm no expert on the technicals of how, but winning shares were being withheld by someone with a significant portion of that network's hashrate. Maybe someone else can chime in with the details on how this type of attack is perpetrated. Incidentally, CURE was delisted from polo a very short time later. Whether this was due to polo calling BS, or being complicit and tipping off somebody prior to the delisting announcement to get one last hoorah, the world will never know.
I also remember some talk around that time of excessive orphans happening on slushpool. It apparently ended up being an unintentional issue wherein one of the larger farms pointed at slush was withholding winning shares. This sounded very similar to what happened with CURE, but with so much more hashrate on the BTC network, others were finding winning shares to keep the chain moving.
So, how is this relevant to ZEC?
I believe the BCN attack was made possible by, and initiated with, Antminer X3s. Somebody has a lot of them and pulled this off.
I believe the CURE attack was perpetrated by a major holder of SHA256 ASICs. The CURE nethash was a drop in the bucket compared to bitcoin so it was probably a simple matter of pulling off BTC for a couple hours, attacking CURE, then returning to BTC (or whatever else they were moving at the time).
Not going to speculate on who waged these attacks, it's irrelevant. The important, common, factor is ASIC miners. I fear that the ZEC network will be vulnerable to this type of attack should action not be taken to resist ASICs. All it would take is two hours to completely trash it's reputation and the effort invested in getting it to where it is today.
Before you call me a GPU shill or ASIC fudder, consider that these things have actually happened and do your own research to refute the points being made. In either case, thank you for taking the time to read what I've written and I look forward to your feedback.

Dec 24 Strategy: BURST, ICX, XVG, XEM, STRAT, ARDR, MCO, PAY, BAY, WAVES, NXT, ICO Strategy and CB Picks for January

Recap for Today Dec 24: ICO Picks (Detailed Later), Coins Picks: BURST (December 27th Dymaxion launch), ICX(Mainnet launch), XVG(Wraith Protocol goes live this week), XEM(Core 1.0 release by Jan 1), STRAT (ICO platform goes live this week with 2 Flagship ICOs), ARDR(goes live Jan 1st), NXT(airdrop in 4 days), MCO, NXT, PAY, BAY, WAVES (airdrop confirmed by WAVES twitter to WCT AND WAVES holders)
For tips and strategy hours before being posted to the message boards follow on Reddit, Instagram: JaketheCryptoKing and Twitter: JbtheCryptoKing. And now on Discord: https://discord.gg/JfkWfUy (join group to reach me directly and see posts early!) Remember in trading minutes matter, hours are eternities.
BURST is about to do just that. BURST onto the scene. They have their Dymaxion launch this week and their mining platform should revolutionize blockchain tech. BURST uses free memory space instead of CPU, GPU, and ASIC miners using literally less then 0.025% of the electricity when compared to BTC’s mining algorithm. BTC mining uses more electricity than many small nations and BURST will provide an ability to mine at a very low cost while still having a tradable coin for exchanges. I expect this week (their release is the 27th), particularly the next 72 hours to see the biggest BURST gains to date, while leading volume on Bittrex.
NXT (will be in each post until the airdrop, and it went from $.7 when recommended to $1.80ish), with the future value of airdrop priced this should trend toward $2.00. As I’m writing this I see it’s spiked over $1.60. That is almost 100% gains in 72 hours, I’ve been screaming to buy NXT in all of my prior posts. Today it popped, it should continue to trend toward $2.00. I just did the math on the IGNIS airdrop, the IGNIS has increased to $4.02 in value, meaning NXT should be worth a minimum of $2.00, a penny more for every penny NXT is worth following the airdrop, price point $2.00-$3.00 depending on if IGNIS continues to appreciates or not.
Technology: Nothing really creates 100% gains (or more) in the Crypto Markets better than technological block chain advances. This is the week’s leaders for this category…
ICX is the addition for today! Their Mainnet goes live by the end of December which means any day now there will be that 100% pop everyone dreams of. Leading up to that we should receive the hype and anticipation boost on a daily basis. I expect ICX to rally 10% daily until the Mainnet announcement is made with a 100% gains the day of going live!
XVG, VERGE WRAITH PROTCOL (XVG promises this to come out by end of year, plus a very impressive ad came out 4 days ago so I doubt they miss their deadline) anonymity with the flick of a button (public and private ledges in one block chain). XVG has promised WRAITH will be released by the end of this year, it should hit $1 when it does, McAfee although I don’t agree w/him on much he says, states a $15 price target within 6 months of Wraith Protocol being released. I’m saying $1.00 it’s currently $.25 that’s a 400% upswing if I’m right, 4000% if McAfee is. Does it matter really who is at that point? Wraith allows the individual user to determine if they want they balance visible on the block chain or not. Right now we have coins like Monero which are completely anonymous hence their use on the dark web, or ones that are completely public where anyone who knows your wallet address can check your balance. XVG lets each user determine, public or private, this will revolutionize blockchian and altcoins. If you want to see the impressive link for the Wraith ad: https://youtu.be/dMrk6rozbJg An article was written today by Bitcoinist highly favorable of Verge Wraith will make the coin value explode: http://bitcoinist.com/verge-next-bitcoin/
XEM Catapult, which is version 2.0 of NEM (is to be released by the end of the year). Plus a 4 week hackathon beginning in January. There is nothing better to build awareness and test out their new Catapult network they’ll be releasing this week, then a worldwide hackathon and a new update to their NEM network.
STRAT, is going to have an amazing week. They promised that by Jauary, "I can confirm they will be able to host ICO's on our blockchain agnostic platform this year." STRAT is on the cusp of being able to host ICO’s for other companies. This is extremely valuable technology and they’ve announced it will be ready to go this week. They’ve also announced 2 Flagship ICOs that will be available on their STRATIS network. The platform to host ICOs goes live this week, and within 2 weeks we find out which ICOs STRAT is hosting. This should be a very positive 2 weeks for STRAT.
ARDR, Platform launches Jan 1. Ardor’s blockchain becomes fully operational Jan 1st. Genesis snapshot announced 1 week in advance. Not to mention all those NXT you’ve been holding for the free IGNIS are used specifically on the ARDR block chain. ARDR should continue to trend upward with NXT and IGNIS leading up to the airdrop.
CB Future Picks (same screenshot that showed BCC showed XRP and Monero).
MCO, has promised 3 surprises and a Christmas bonus. According to MCO, "We have something special planned for all of you for December 25th and we think you will love it." Their news cards are supposed to be released soon, maybe their debit cards (allowing you to exchange crypto for FIAT instantly) are ready! Check them out online they look GORGEOUS. I have already placed orders for 3/5 of the available ones and I’m #4000+ I expect MCO to start rolling these cards out, there is absurd demand for them. With news tomorrow and a working product this month this coin should skyrocket.
PAY & BAY (News and Surprises), Both have promised news on the 25th and given its Christmas I expect the announcements to be spectacular ones. Both have deadlines approaching for projects and I expect the announcements to either be completed projects ahead of deadlines or exciting new partnerships. Christmas is 24hrs away if there was a time to get in on PAY and BAY it would be prior to the Christmas surprises.
WAVES has confirmed both WAVES holders and WCT holders will receive their airdrop at the end of the month. The promotion running on Binance provides reason to buy and hold instead of selling at different points. The founder is also speaking on Christmas via Youtube live stream, airdrops January 1, and presence at the Miami Blockchain event the 2nd week of January. Waves is a good buy and hold, or pick it up as you sell out of the tech coins that will have their pop this week.
ICOS I Like:
I've had a lot of messages regarding ICOs I like and I wanted to publicly state which ones I have faith in currently. There are 100s with little to no value, with poor teams, unnecessary coins, etc. If you've seen my picks this week I do extensive research (Verge and NXT I called before 100% climbs). The below 2 are the only ICOs I found for all of December that I believe can beat the average return of altcoins for January. ICOS I Like: Crypterium- The team is unreal and they are presenting at the Dubai Blockchain Intl’ in January. The bonus period ends in 2 days so I highly recommend getting an ether or 2 involved in this. The Dubai Blockchain Intl’ will greatly increase the number of individuals interested in holding Crypterium, (I make $0 off my posts and extensive research if you do purchase the ICOs please use my referral link): https://tokensale.crypterium.io/?ref=4a5381543424516aa2b4e3a6
INS: The INS token sales ends the 25th, so this is literally the last opportunity you have to get involved. It is almost impossible to find an ICO with a functioning platform, profitable, a connected strong team, positive partnerships that is still in the ICO stage. INS has advertising $ as I’ve seen them on social media, and they are still in ICO stage. I believe INS and Crypterium will be the biggest ICOs of the month by a long shot. Please use the below referral link to take advantage of the token sale! https://tokensale.ins.world/?ref=25c5513c4272d53be4470133
I do all this research for free, if you wouldn't mind using my referral links to sign up for Binance (exchange) or the ICOs, Crypterium and INS it'd truly be giving something back to me! Binance: https://www.binance.com/?ref=15316928The Crypterium ICO bonus ends very soon, the INS ICO ends entirely tomorrow. Crypterium: https://tokensale.crypterium.io/?ref=4a5381543424516aa2b4e3a6 and INS: https://tokensale.ins.world/?ref=25c5513c4272d53be4470133 . . . Thank you!

Forking chains to ASIC resistance algos is a risk to the security of the network and a subsidy for GPU miners

ASIC resistance seems to be something that crypto fans cheer. This may have something to do with the fact that they see Bitmain as a looming monopolistic threat that can produce enough hardware to 51% networks.
While this may be true to some extent, the solution to this problem seems to always be to simply fork them off. This, of course, never actually works.
Take for example Horizen (formerly Zencash). Horizen is a fork from Zclassic, which was a fork to remove the 20% founders fee from the block reward from Zcash, which was itself forked from Bitcoin.
Bitcoin -> Zcash -> Zclassic -> Horizen (Zencash)
Now, being a fork of Zcash, Horizen uses an equihash algo for mining. Other coins that use equihash include Bitcoin Gold, Komodo and, of course, Zcash.
The whole point of making equihash was to be an ASIC resistant algo. Well, guess what? In less than a year equihash ASICs were created.
The reason I bring up these coins is because Horizen and Bitcoin Gold both recently suffered 51% attacks on their respective networks. The attackers were able to rent more than 51% of each coins hash rate and used Nakamoto consensus rules to mine in secret, faster than the rest of the network. This allowed the attacker to deposit on binance, trade ZEN for BTC , withdraw, and after he received his BTC, add his blocks to the chain (longest chain rule) and double spending his ZEN making free BTC.
BTG and ZEN had different approaches to this problem.
BTG decided to go with a more "memory hard" equihash algo, which will stymie ASICs for a time, but they will likely be back, if the coins have a big enough market cap.
https://bitcoingold.org/equihash-btg/
Horizen decided not to follow in BTG's footsteps. Their approach is to slightly alter Nakamoto consensus rules to disincentivize mining in secret. This, in my opinion, is a much more elegant and long term solution to the 51% problem.
GPU miners in the Horizen community claimed that the Horizen team's decision to not fork to ASIC resistance was giving into Bitmain. However, in the few months that ASIC miners have been mining equihash, two other companies, Innoscillicon and ASICminer (company name) developed more powerful equihash miners than Bitmain, although they were quite a bit more expensive. Add to this the fact that Samsung has been making ASIC chips for at least 6 months and it starts to become clear that Bitmain's monopoly will slowly be chipped away by the market.
https://techcrunch.com/2018/01/31/samsung-confirms-asic-chips/
The point is, for most ASIC resistance advocates, it comes down to their concern for decentralization because of Bitmain's dominance. To this, I will direct you to the equihash saga as outlined above.
If you believe that Bitmain is as nefarious as some say they are, why do you think they are not above developing an ASIC miner for coins that are supposed to be ASIC resistant, test in secret, and then just unleash their hash on the network, rendering it completely useless? They could have done that with equihash, but they didn't, maybe mostly because they didn't think it was worth the pain to fabricate them all.
ASIC resistance is futile. GPU mining is a hobby for most, and they can resell the GPUs when they are finished. ASIC mining is the industrial version of mining chains need to be secure against attacks, by up to and including state actors.
For all these reasons (and more) I have come to the conclusion that forking to ASIC resistant algos is dangerous for the network because it artificially suppresses hash power (and opens the door to hostile takeovers), is temporary and essentially a subsidy to GPU miners.
Disclaimer: I do not mine, but I am a secure node operator for Horizen.

The Quest for Fair Mining: did we come to a conclusion?

As cryptocurrency space matures every year, it becomes less of a thought experiment and more of a product or a solution to a problem. However, I still think that there is still a huge room for experimentation in the field and that there are lots of concepts that are still yet to be expanded upon and clarified. One of these concepts is Fair Mining initiative. Fair Mining was mentioned first in a Bitcoin whitepaper by Satoshi Nakamoto, where he said that the most honest and decentralised model of governance for blockchain is “one CPU = one vote”. However, Bitcoin did not fulfill the vision of Satoshi, as it is not really decentralized at this moment. Is it bad? Not necessarily. Should we say that complete fairness and decentralization is impossible and stop finding other solutions? Not at all. This thought led me to research a wide array of different CPU-only cryptocurrencies. Most of them are made by hobbyists and feature very vibrant (hobbyist as well) communities. Some of you may remember the meteoric rise of Ravencoin that even got listed on Binance. Some of you may know about Nerva or Masari. Anyway, these are all legit CPU-mineable projects and I am not going to dive deep into their specifics. After I researched about them I wanted to try to find coins that are even more obscure at the moment and that don’t have many eyes on even from mining communities.

One of the coins that got my attention was Blur. If you check my post history, you can find a writeup on /Cryptomoonshots about it. As I told everyone in that post, I was really looking forward to the future of it because the creator promised an extensive update in the future. Few days ago he made that update and I thought that it deserves a post on /Cryptocurrency.

So, this is the short explanation of the update if you wish to check it for yourself. In short, the project, which was initially a CPU-only coin, addresses the fact that the GPUs and ASICs would try to game the system and find breaches that will allow them to mine coins and profit from this. Instead of always being on high alert and ready to patch the code to reject the entrance of GPUs and ASICs, Blur introduces PPoW, Parallel Proof of Work system, which features discretionary, non-competitive mining on independent chains within the same ecosystem. This means that aside from the high-priority main chain Blur features two side-chains as well, one for ASICs, other for GPUs with different rates of coin swap (so ASICs get less than GPU who get even less than CPUs).

I am really curious about this update and the future of Blur because in my opinion this is the closest as we got at the moment to the concept of fair mining, because the Blur blockchain is now completely inclusive, while still prioritising CPUs. So, my questions that I wanted to discuss with /CC would be:

What is Dago Mining?

Green energy for bitcoins, ethereum, and other cryptomonetes mining. Dago Mining has one initial cost and zero cost on consumption. The cost of the energy component gives profitability to mining. We create our own green renewable energy power plant and we will not have any future energy cost increase. There is no cost per Kw schedule, only a small annual maintenance price (0.01 $ per Kw), with a 20-year warranty on plant's components.
About Dago Mining When cryptomining was still in its infancy, it was well distributed among a couple of thousand private miners, governed by transparent rules and not harmful to the world environment because the energy requirements were microscopic. During last years, all this has changed: Dutch bitcoin analyst Alex de Vries, who operates a Bitcoin Energy Consumption Index on the website Digiconomist, has produced estimates of growth of energy consumption and they are alarming. If bitcoin miners are using the most efficient machines possible, the lowest amount of electricity they could possibly be using is 39 terawatt hours, de Vries said in an interview. That's about as much as the entire country of Slovenia. De Vries said less conservative estimates make it entirely possible that bitcoin is using as much energy as Ireland, which consumes about twice as much as Slovenia, or about 1 percent of the U.S. total.
The problem is getting worse, said de Vries, who estimated the annual amount of energy consumed by bitcoin rose by a fifth in the final weeks of 2017. Even worse, the concentration of mining power in the hands of a couple of large corporations is distorting the formerly democratic decision- making process in these networks: changes in protocols and hard forks are in danger of being influenced by the economic interests of a few.
DAGO mining has designed a mining system with three technologies all together: a high efficiency photovoltaic system that uses solar concentration panels, combined with an innovative energy storage system in salt water batteries that will bring the farm to be self-sufficient in terms of energy in 12- 18 months from the start. The progressive construction and assembly of the hardware of mining uses high performance GPU (not only Graphics Cards) and ASIC Chip already on the market. Everything is cooled by “Immersion Cooling” in order to exploit the possibility of overclock without losing stability and durability. Using the dynamics of exponential growth for both, we promote climate preservation and the welfare of our token holders. It is the physical incarnation of the blockchain spirit: a robust and decentralized system that can withstand disruptions in government policies, price structuresand the energy supply.

General info and list of exchanges for Electrominer

Electrominer is a self-powered Mining Platform where users rent hashing capacity to mine various coins on various algorithms. Electrominer was created to address the challenges of mining PoW based cryptocurrencies. We have our own datacenters equipped with ASIC and GPU miners to mine profitably and effectively, our own solar power station to efficiently power our equipment, and Electrominer platform's mining capacity will be available for anybody to rent and utilize for mining through the web portal. Electrominer Tokens (ELM) have a fixed supply and represent a share of total mining capacity available for rent on the Electrominer platform to use for mining Bitcoin and other PoW based coins. Electrominer's total mining capacity will grow proportionally with the expansion of our mining facilities. Electrominer Tokens allow you to access the Electrominer Cloud Mining Platform to mine a variety of coins. ELM will never become obsolete, outdated, or broken. ELM can be used for mining coins and sharing in Electrominer's ever-increasing mining capacity, and it can be sold at any time. Electrominer is open to anyone who shares and is willing to contribute to our vision for revolutionizing the mining industry in order to make cryptomining accessible to everybody, while simultaneously working to reduce the harmful environmental impact created by typical cryptomining services.
About Electrominer The advent of blockchain technology has introduced a variety of unique digital assets, creating countless opportunities for mankind. Today, funds can be securely stored, transactions can be bconducted in a much cheaper and faster way, and cryptocurrency can be mined by anybody - all taking bnplace on a decentralized network. A significant number of digital currency users have discovered and joined the crypto world through undertaking the mining process. Now, crypto mining has become an area of interest for entrepreneurs and investors rather than individuals. Rising electricity rates, limited home space, and lack of engineering skills can make the mining process more problematic and less profitable for enthusiasts. Another challenge crypto mining faces is to remain environmentally friendly, as most mining facilities are powered by fossil fuel power plants.

BTG is in top 10 in CoinMarket Cap! Here is why it should be in the top 5.

How I see the top 10 currencies on CoinMarketCap.com

1 Bitcoin is the number one cryptocurrency, with all the hype and all the press. I do not see any coin overtaking it in the near future. Probably never.

A) Bitcoin Gold allows for GPU mining on people’s home computers and it is ASIC resistant, which makes for a more decentralized coin. (One of the founding principles of bitcoin, which has fallen by the wayside with Chinese asic (such as BITMAIN) controlling most of the mining market and allowing it to pull all sorts of shenanigans. B) Bitcoin transactions have become slooooooooow! (Bitcoin GOLD is much faster) C) Bitcoin transactions are PRICEY! You can't even send someone $10 worth of bitcoin because the fees would eat the entire transaction. This is why STEAM dropped bitcoin. The fees have become ridiculously high (see miners controlling the market above as to reasons for this) Bitcoin Gold has lower fees. D) The network for bitcoin can be VERY unstable. Whenever Bitmain wants to move the miners over to it's own fraud coin, bitcoin cash, they slow the market and delay transactions. This should be seen for what it is: an ATTACK on bitcoin. With all that said, bitcoin still carries on and the price continues to climb! It remains #1 in marketcap.

2 in marketcap is Etherium. People love to remind you that Microsoft is backing Etherium. Yeah, but guess what. Etherium's network is an absolute mess!!

Hundreds of millions of coins have been lost because of a "bug". WOW. The 44billion dollar Ether network was brought to its knees by Crypto Kittie, a digital cat child’s app that uses Etherium contracts to trade digital pussies. Etherium shouldn't be number 2. Not until they can create a stable network. Who knows what will bring it down next? Digital dogs?

3 Bitcoin Cash. This currency is a fraud. It merely exists to allow Bitmain to use asic boost, to give it an advantage mining coins. Once Segwit went into place on bitcoin they could no longer use asic boost and lost their advantage so they forked bitcoin for greed. They tried to take a bunch of miners with them and force everyone who wants to buy an antminer to pay for them in Bitcoin Cash, driving up BCC and trying to take down BTC. This is a fraud currency and everyone should ignore it, and let it die on the side of the road like the diseased rodent it is.

4 Litecoin This is a great coin. It is more stable than every coin above it. The network is reliable and the transactions are fast. As if that were not enough, the fees are ridiculously low. So low that they have attracted STEAM, who just dropped bitcoin, to allow people to purchase on their store with Litecoin.

This should be the number 2 coin, in my opinion. (only because nothing is going to dethrone Bitcoin.)

5 Ripple If you have ever invested in ripple, and thought the price was going to go up and was surprised how it suddenly came crashing down, well you are not imagining things and you are not alone. The price on this coin is manipulated.

Don’t be me wrong, Ripple is a useful coin with good tech behind it. Fast transactions, good scalability and low fees, but this coin is used by banks to transfer fund between them. They do not want to the value to go up because that would make the fees larger. This “global “token is mainly traded on Korean exchanges. This coin was not designed to be a holder of value, so if you are looking to invest, I would stay away from Ripple. Anything over 25 cents is risking a sudden plunge. I’m amazed to see it at 36 cents.

6 IOTA - I love IOTA. What a great coin with a great team behind it. The network (Tangle) is very advanced and they love to brag about how they are an improvement over bitcoin. The people involved in IOTA tend to be very passionate and haters of blockchain.

The problem? Well, their wallets don’t even work! You can buy it on Binance, but you can’t even withdraw it because they have so many problems trying to get a wallet to be stable. For a coin that suddenly shot up to $5 (I rode a lot of that up and jumped out) on the news that they were working with Samsung, Microsoft and others on an information sharing network, I would think they could get their transaction network up and running so people can keep coins reliably in their wallets and get them off exchanges.

7 DASH One of a kind. The network funds itself. Unheard of. It’d decentralized with Masternodes that vote on how to spend the budget. (masternodes controlling the future don’t sound decentralized to me, but I digress) They claim instant transactions and privatesend (wasn’t this darksend?) This used to be XCoin in Jan 2014. 10 days later the core dev team changed the name to Darkcoin. Later they changed the name to DASH (not to be confused with Dashcoin, which is exactly what many people do… get confused.)

Some people would say there is a dark side to Dash coin, but to each their own.

8 NEM My first question is if the currency is called NEM, why is the symbol XEM??? NEM codes its own blockchain making it efficient and stable. If you hold 10,000 XEM, you can harvest(?) which incentivizes people to hold, which will inflate the price. (HODLING is the main reason bitcoin goes up in price. If everyone were day trading it can you imagine the volatility? When you limit the supply and there is still a high demand the price must go up. Simple as that.) NEM (or XEM) is not discussed very much and is not widely known. This is odd considering its high market cap (top 10 baby) and its solid tech. NEM (like bitcoin gold) needs some good marketing.

#9 Monero This is a PRIVATE COIN, untraceable currency. This coin has a purpose, and that purpose is protecting the privacy of the users of it. You can send and receive Monero without knowing who you sent or received coin from. This coin will increase in value as demand for privacy will only continue to increase and this is the world’s number one privacy coin (sorry dash). Some people may have ethical reasons to not want to invest in a coin that may be used for all manner of shady dealings online. That’s up to you to decide. Are you against fiat cash? For the most part cash is untraceable too, and people use it for all sorts of shady things, but people also use it for plenty of good things.

10 Bitcoin Gold Finally a version of bitcoin I can mine on my computer at home! YEAH!!! Bitcoin is SUPPOSED to be decentralized, and this is the ONLY flavor of bitcoin that lives up to that. It’s the same block interval and block size as bitcoin, but it updates difficulty on every block and prevents ASIC’s by using POW Equihash so people can mine on GPU’s at home.

As I mentioned above, Bitcoin Gold has faster transfers with lower fees and the network is not able to be manipulated by companies such as Bitmain, because large ASIC farms have no control over this network. Some mysterious forces (I wonder who?) attacked Bitcoin Gold when it first launched, with DDOS attacks and faking wallets. Despite the rough start, bitcoin gold has been widely accepted at 25 exchanges including Bittrex, HitBTC, Bitfinex, Binance and Yobit! It has even found a home in hardware wallets like Trezor and Ledger. You can use Coinomi on your phone too. http://amzn.to/2AeoyMI <----- Check Out Trezor Hardware Wallet!
THE TOP 5 COINS FOR ME: 1) Bitcoin (obviously) 2) Litecoin 3) Etherium (Because of the hype) 4) Monero 5) Bitcoin Gold Honorable mentions: IOTA and NEM
